In 2006 the United States Pharmacopeial Convention announced a revision to Chapter 61 and added Chapter 62 – Microbiological Examination of Non-Sterile Products: Tests for Specified Microorganisms. These changes have been made to harmonize the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) with the European Pharmacopeia (EP) and the Japanese Pharmacopeia (JP) and must be implemented by May 2009.
